Artificial Parklet
The Artificial Parklet seeks to address the shortcomings of existing smart urban furniture. Building on the strategy of parklets this design aims to reclaim spaces from the urban environment and introduce green. The design approach for this design shifted away from human-centric design paradigms adopting a more-than-human approach. Introducing non-human stakeholders alongside with human stakeholders in the design process highlighted design issues faced such as balancing features with direct conflict of interests.
The aim of this design was to promote a co-existing space and introduce greenery within urban environments. Serving as a biodiversity tool and a social space for humans with limited access to green spaces.
