Personalising the Inflight Entertainment Experience

Michelle Xiang –

Inflight Entertainment (IFE) Systems have become important aspects of a quality flight experience with the rise of long-haul flights creating the need for IFE systems to provide psychological comfort. However, despite their importance, the complexity of modern IFE systems makes it difficult for users to access the content and inflight services they are interested in. User research indicated that an emphasis on (1) Personalising the IFE experience, (2) Reducing clutter and (3) Providing transparency in the flight journey were crucial to meeting user goals and needs.

The prototypes shown were designed based on these user goals, and are the outcome of an iterative process involving user testing and incorporating their feedback into the final design to best meet user goals and needs.
